Using the video
There are a great variety of potential outlets for a video product's distribution, more than many people are aware.
Videos are effective tools for educational purposes, an essential fund-raising tool, and a recruiting tool.
From an educational perspective, they can be shown in schools, visitor centers, as a prelude at public speaking engagements, conventions, workshops, or any gathering of sympathetic minds.
Or, you can work from mailing lists and direct mail the finished product.
Within the organization, videos are effective for volunteer orientation and provide background information for those unfamiliar with an organization's mission and history.
Videos are ideally suited for the information age. They can be listed on your website, or linked and listed on websites of sympathetic organizations. You can offer the public opportunities to download the video directly from your website.
You can release all or part of the material to the news media, as a finished product, or as B-roll material. (Short clips for TV stations to illustrate newscasters' narratives.)
There is also the possibility, if the subject matter is regarded as entertaining or informative by TV and cable, that the product will be picked up and aired by mass media distributors, provided that it meets their format and marketing needs.
