GROWING BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS

SolTerra expands to include web site creation, music and online stock footage access.

SolTerra Communications, will expand its services this week to include web site development, music recording, and online stock footage sales.

SolTerra Communications began six years ago when owner Jeff Huxmann decided to enhance his nine-to-five lifestyle by picking up a video camera.  In those early days, Jeff worked mostly for free, volunteering his time filming for local groups, like high school theatre troupes, and government agencies, such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  His passion for film-making fueled his dedication to the job, despite the meager paychecks.

Jeff’s big break came in 2002 when the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP) hired SolTerra to film an 18-minute documentary about the human-led Whooping crane migration in the world.  This allowed Jeff to quit his day job and take on SolTerra full-time.  The WCEP film, “Bringing Back the Cranes,” symbolizes for Jeff all that he loves about his chosen career.  “I really enjoy helping non-profits like the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership spread their messages,” said Huxmann, “Video is a powerful tool.  It can stimulate people to act and is therefore a valuable instrument for people trying to improve society and the environment.”

This week, SolTerra will take another leap forward in the quest to help clients do good in the world by launching three new branches of the company: SolTerra Sound, SolTerra Interactive, and SolTerra Stock.

“This expansion into music, web site creation, and stock footage means we can offer our clients a wider variety of services. Multi-media can help non-profits spread their messages.  Video is great, but other media helps, too,” Jeff stated. “We will now be able to cover the full range of a client’s multi-media needs.  This means that clients will not be forced to piece together different media technologies from several different sources – we can package their entire audio-visual public relations campaign right here in our office, from radio and public service announcements to music CDs and web sites.”

SolTerra’s mission is to provide affordable production services to individuals and organizations devoted to bringing about a better world. The company seeks clients and projects that promote the conservation and enjoyment of nature. Past clients include CBS News: 60 Minutes, The Weather Channel, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the International Crane Foundation,  Operation Migration, Inc, and the Sierra Club.

Even as SolTerra expands into these new realms of multi-media, Jeff will continue to search for new and better ways to help spread the messages that he believes make this a better world.
