Honoring the Earth
SolTerra
Communications® is devoted to bringing about a better world. Here's a sample
of our contribution.
Renewable Energy Purchases - Since September 2004,SolTerra
Communications has been poweredby the
wind and other sources of "green" energy. In 2007 we switched our renewable energy purchases to TerraPass. Thanks to TerraPass, SolTerra Communications has been able to balance out our carbon footprint produced while creating
our videos, websites and music! We've also neutralized the carbon released by the cars we drive in the course of our work.
Using TerraPass to help reduce our part of the climate crisis was simple and affordable. We encourage everyone to take a look at how easy it is to be carbon neutral. http://terrapass.com/
Filmmakers For Conservation - To help foster environmental filmmaking, SolTerra is a member of Filmmakers For Conservation. Please visit the organization's web page for more information.
Giant Peace Dove
Initiative - When SolTerra cofounder Bob Cornett asked
Jane Goodall "what can I do to help the environment "she
simply responded with "you need to do something big for your
community." Bob obliged and created Sunny, the world's
largest bicycling puppet. This puppet is used as a focal
point to get students excited about helping the environment
and their community. Bob, having completed the task, came
back to Jane Goodall with his wife Kelly and puppeteer
friend Matthew Hoffman and asked her "now what do we do?"
Jane responded by asking them to create a flock of giant
puppet peace doves that will cover the world; enough to be
seen by satellite. Bob, Kelly, and Matthew were up to the
challenge and made Jane's vision come to fruition. To help spread
Jane's message of peace, SolTerra
created a web page for this effort during the first two years of this program. Visit giantpeacedoves.org to learn more.
Donation of video
to Northwoods Wildlife Center - The Northwoods Wildlife
Center in northern Wisconsin, now the subject of our
developing TV series, Northwoods Rescue, has an important
message of how to live with wild creatures. SolTerra
Productions donated hours of time to develop, film, and edit Our Wild Neighbors. Today this video is used to
educate new landowners about how to appropriately resolve
issues when people and animals are at odds. |
